I am what you might call a crossover artist, singing both Broadway and Classical music. I love the works I’ve been privileged to sing lately: the Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, the great American musical Ragtime, and the recent Encores! revival of Kismet.

I consider myself a bass-baritone, and I’m a big fan of Alfred Drake, John Raitt, Paul Robeson, and George London. They had great, expressive voices and all sang in a variety of musical styles. Among contemporary singers, I am a fan of Bryn Terfel, Audra McDonald and Dawn Upshaw.

In 2006, I was a finalist in the Lotte Lenya vocal competition and gave a concert of Kurt Weill works, along with the other finalists, at Bruno Walter Recital Hall at Lincoln Center. I guess you could say that’s where I fit in, somewhere sandwiched between Musicals and Opera.

A native of Battle Creek, Michigan, I now make my home in New York City. I grew up in small-town Michigan and went on to attend the University of Michigan where I studied voice with Shirley Verrett. Though I trained classically, I graduated from the Musical Theater Department.

In my short career, I have performed in a wide variety of houses including The Weston Playhouse, The Fulton Opera House, North Shore Music Theatre, Music Theatre of Wichita, City Center Encores!, Bard SummerScape, Paper Mill Playhouse, Los Angeles Opera, Opera Comique in Paris, Nashville Symphony, Sarasota Symphony, The Bruno Walter Recital Hall at Lincoln Center, Atlanta Opera, and Lyric Opera of Chicago.

I am a proud union member of Actor’s Equity and AGMA.
